2021-22 Environmental Science Workshop Registration Coming Soon!

SCV Water’s Environmental Science Workshop (2 hours) is an educational program for high school students (grades 9 through 12) in our service area.

The educators at SCV Water have created an innovative high school educational program for Environmental Science. This summer workshop is conducted at SCV Water Rio Vista Treatment Plant on Bouquet Canyon Road. During this summer session, the educators lead high school students through hands-on labs including soil types, soil structure, and permeability. These are supplemented by interactive lessons on soil horizons, effects of drought on the environment, environmental laws and regulations, and the water treatment process, including a mini-tour of our treatment plant. Labs and lectures are both outdoors and indoors, giving the students engaging enrichment activities.

The 2-hour in-person workshop focuses on:

  • Soil horizons
  • Effects of drought on the environment
  • Environmental laws/regulations
  • The water treatment process
